I remember Mr. Leydorf very well. He was always doing something very funny. That made everybody laugh.

I never really realized all of the gifts that Mr. Leydorf shared with us until I got to college. He allowed us to see and experience forms of media that usually only art majors in undergraduate studies get to experience. He loved to share his love of art with everyone. Besides that, he was just a great man. His humor, his caring, his values, his encouragement, and his kindness will be missed greatly. My prayers go out to the Leydorf family.

Mr. Leydorf was my number one role model. He always made my mornings eventful! Seeing his face could light up the world and cheer up the even the most depressed person. I will never forget him. We love you Mr. Leydorf!

My heart goes out to Kathy and Nick and the entire O-E community. Mr. Leydorf will be greatly missed by all, and we all were so fortunate to have known him. His teachings led me to where I am today, and I will always remember who first turned my career interest to the arts. My greatest condolences to the family, my heart goes out to you. Take care, warm thoughts.

Jeff was my art teacher my junior and senior years 1979-1981. He was one of the funnier and better teachers that I had.

For the last few years I have been doing historical research and just this year I started to look for more information on Gratiot county and was suprised to see his name as one of the people involved. I was going to email him about the subject when I saw his obituary. Although I had not spoken to him since my high school days I still remember his voice and humor quite well.

Good bye Mr. Leydorf, you are greatly missed.

Thank you for being there for me and being my shoulder to cry on. You have been there for me through some hard times this year, and I can't believe now that you are gone. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH...You were the best teacher that Ovid-Elsie High School had, you have left a HUGE void in the high school that will never be replaced... You will be greatly missed. My heart and prayers go out to Kathy and Nick through this hard time.

Mr. Leydorf certainly had a positive influence on the lives of his students. Both of our daughters, Alyssa & Megen, were privileged to have him for their art teacher and we always looked forward to parent-teacher conference with him. You could see he truly had a great concern for his students well-being. We feel fortunate that he had touched our lives, though it was only for a brief time, and we will remember him with a smile.

Mr. Leydorf will truly be missed, but we all carry wonderful memories of him. It always seemed like his goal for every day was to make someone smile or laugh, and we all know that he accomplished that goal a thousand times. He has taught everyone so much, and I know I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for him, he was truly an inspiration to all. Heartfelt wishes to his family and loved ones.

I met Jeff and Kathy at Jeff's grandfather's house in 1987 on my first genealogical research trip to Michigan. Every time I got back to Michigan I had to visit the Leydorfs. That became the highlight of my trips north. Jeff was so friendly and he went out of his way to help me in my research. I don't think he ever met a stanger.

I will miss Jeffs friendship. He was like one of the family.

God bless Kathy, Nick and Maxine.

I am so sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. I got to see him about 2 years ago when I was visiting my sister. My neice, Rebecca Bailey, was one of his students at O-E High and I had occasion to be at the school. It was good to see him and visit for a few minutes. The students obviously had a trusted relationship with Jeff and I'm certain that he had a positive and lasting impact on the students that he came in contact with over the years. My condolences to all of Jeff's family, friends, and students. Fondly, Carolyn Hall Brown

Mr. Leydorf was always so kind to my daughter in class, she thought so much of him. He made her feel good about herself. He would listen to and encourage her. Jeff was a friend to my sister in high school, always kind, a gentleman. I know he will be greatly missed.

With deepest sympathy,
Elaine Bailey

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Kathy. I didn't know Jeff well, but I do remember a fine pheasant hunting trip several years ago. Jeff, his Irish Setter and I had a good hunt and even bagged a couple of pheasants! Most of all, I enjoyed the company of a fine gentleman. All the best to you.

I will never forget the encouragement I received from Mr. Leydorf and the thoughtfulness of Kathy and Nick. He was a second father to me through the years and a great role model for me to become the Art teacher that I am today. I always enjoyed keeping in touch with him since I gradated from OE. I will greatly miss our visits and laughs.
